
The 3rd international conference of the African Renewable Energy Alliance (AREA) on the topic of „Renewable Energy Policies & Gender“ takes place Nigeria.The interconnection of renewable energy and gender will be highlighted during a solar public viewing of the Women‘s Football World Cup at the NTA Arena in Abuja.
The World Future Council, in co-operation with Development Alternatives and HafenCity University Hamburg, organized a policy workshop on "Regenerative urbanisation in India: Steps towards future-proofing urban development" in Delhi, India. more
The WFC has selected forests as the topic for this year’s Future Policy Award. The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity will host the award ceremony in New York in September 2011.
The WFC has published the study 'Regenerative Cities', exploring the myths and misconceptions about feed-in tariff policies. Further, the book "A Renewable World" is now available for free download.

The 3rd international conference of the African Renewable Energy Alliance (AREA) on the topic of „Renewable Energy & Gender“ will be jointly organized by AREA, the World Future Council (WFC) and the Heinrich Böll Foundation Nigeria, partnering with the Energy Commission of Nigeria and ECREEE.
The conference will assemble policy makers, representatives from business and civil society to facilitate a pan-african information exchange. the participants will consult about policies, technologies and financial mechanisms for the deployment of renewable energies in Africa, reflecting the fact that gender is a main determinant that defines access, ways of utilization, opportunities and control over all energy resources. As renewable energy could be a tool for gender equality and women empowerment, gender perspectives are a critical component of policy making at all levels.
