Sustainable Ecosystems

Sustainable Ecosystems

In today’s world, we are consuming the very foundations of our existence – the forests, the oceans, freshwater systems and the soil much faster than our planet can replenish them. We risk our healthy ecosystems.

Our Earth is losing species at an unprecedented rate as a consequence of habitat destruction, pollution and climate change.

Our oceans, the planet’s blue heart, are under severe threat from overfishing, pollution, climate change and ocean acidification.

Our forests are being decimated at unprecedented rates. But they are essential to protect watersheds and help maintain topsoil.

To sustain healthy ecosystems, we need policies that ensure sustainable use of natural resources, to ensure food and water security, the reduction of poverty and to further human development.
